The GISS Specialty Group is seeking nominations to fill the following roles. Full descriptions of each role can be found in the GISS Constitution.
Please send nominations (self or otherwise) to firstname.lastname@example.org by the start of the GISS Business Meeting on Wednesday, 4/22/2015, from 7:15 PM – 8:15 PM in Columbus H, Hyatt, East Tower, Gold Level. Voting for new officers will take place at the Business Meeting. (Drink tickets for the GISS Reception will also be handed out at the Business meeting)
1. Vice Chairperson (Faculty only)
The Vice Chairperson will be elected for a two-year term. After the first
year, he or she shall become and assume the duties of the chairperson.
The vice chair-person shall assume all the duties and responsibilities
of the chairperson in the absence of the chairperson.
2. Academic Director (Faculty only)
The Academic Director will be elected for a two-year term and may
serve more than one term. The Academic Director will organize and execute the Annual Honors Competition for Student Papers. These responsibilities include preparing and disseminating a call for papers, chairing the judging committee for submitted written papers and presentations at the AAG Annual Meeting, organizing the delivery of awards (checks) from the AAG to the student winners, and being present at the AAG Annual Meeting Awards Banquet to present the award to the winning students.
3. Student Director (Student only).
The Student Director will be elected for a one-year term and may
serve more than one term. The Student Director will participate in the selection of the the Annual Honors Competition for Student Paper finalists and winners.
